No thanks, I'll take the cummins over the Cat! Cat has all but thrown in the towel on the 07+ trucks. IN our fleet, we have had more problems with Cat's than any of the other post 07 emissions tractors. Leader in MPG wars and reliability right now is a Cummins 525hp ISX in an 09 Pete 386 @ 7.3mpg!
We run c12's in w900's and isx-450 in t800s. The isx's are 08 with the emissions crap and cat's are 06-07 vintage with some emissions stuff (dpf). it may be how the trucks are spec, but i drive c12 with an 18sp best day 5.5mpg but it run triple digits at 80k+. the guys with the red motor/supper 10's and around 7 mpg. Given the choice I’ll take the w900 with either motor.

What I understand is Cat is out of the truck engine business because their motors cannot meet the new Federal emissions standards. They will however stay in the Marine business where the standards are not enforced YET.

They actually qiute 9-08 with truck engines on highway that is.. 90% at that time were off road. Emissions was not the reason though......
