Okay guys, here is my new ride. I purchased it today at M&L Motors in Lexington, North Carolina and floated home. It is a 2008 Dodge Ram Laramie 5500 with the hauler bed on it. It had 2000 miles on it. It has almost everything but the kitchen sink on it. I'm excited. Now I need to see about some customizing.
The wife and I are retired and are now full time rvers. We haul a 39 foot KZ Montego Bay fifth wheel trailer around the country. It weighs around 16,000 lbs. We are currently in North Carolina. We leave here next Thursday and will head back to Texas for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We take the long way back, going through South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and finally Louisiana.
What rear end gears do you have? I heard the 5500 comes with 4.44 and 4.88 only. Who made the wheels?
We will buy an RV and start traveling when she retires in two years. I'll probly still have the truck in my sig unless I can find a smokin deal on a 4500. This truck will need some extensive upgrading before it can tow 17-18k safely. Brakes turbo and suspension will be high on the list.
