Debadging

Those of you who are debadged: are they adhered with glue? Heat gun to get em off?

they have some sort of double sided tape. i just did mine, i pulled the badges off then took a big eraser to get the tape off (yes, it is about 3" round and goes in your drill...mac tools sells them for about $15 and it works like a champ, just can't stay in one place too long).

eraser works good some say, i used fishing line to "saw" through the glue then use goo gone to get the rest off, i used some commercial adheasive remover from auto zone to get the last few slivers of glue, its not that hard just alot of elbow grease

use fishing line or kite string to get them off. just work the line back in forth as if you are sawing it off. then use the goo gone stuff to get the leftover adhesive off. i dont know if all the badges are held on just by adhesive or if there are any with prongs that go into the metal.

haha, yea i debadged my other truck but not this one. i am assuming they use the same adhesive. fishing line works great, but make sure to wear gloves if you use it.

I used a heavy / thick automotive upholstory thread to cut through the tape, after warming the tape with a heat gun.

Then I used my pressure washer to knock off all the chunks of tape left behind. This left only the glue residue.

Then I used WD-40 on a clean rag to dissolve and remove the glue.

Took about 30 min total.

Then I washed the whole truck, to remove the oily spots.

I left the rams head in the center of the tailgate.

If your gunna use fishing line, use spider wire, it's braded and cuts like a bone saw, monofilimint cuts like a popsickle stick.

i just spent about an hour on this...i only got the blutech diesel decal and the "lonestar edition" decals off in that amount of time. i used a hairdryer to heat up the logo, then a plastic caulk/fiberglass blade to pry them off. then there was the backside of the tape still on there, so i had to use the plastic blade to scrape that off. then there was the sticky residue, and i used tar/bug/sap removed to get that off. this is time consuming!!!
