In the new Diesel Power magazine they have a 12 truck shootout. One of the events is they all drive the same loop and best mpg wins. Well this year the winner got 38 mpg. ![]() That is on a truck that dynoed at 1232 lb-ft of torque. His secret is CNG, compressed natural gas, which is injected similar to propane. To make things even better he buys CNG for .70 cents a gallon. Does anyone have any more info on how to do a CNG injection setup? Who sells a kit? With the incredible money savings this offers i really want to look into it. One factor is the availability of CNG. Obviously you can't get CNG just anywhere so that is a problem. You can buy a home setup that uses your house gas line. Some larger towns have CNG stations so that needs researching.

A diesel that runs CNG as it's only fuel isn't the same as a DI diesel engine. Did the truck run solely on CNG or was it just an additive?

It was an additive. There is a shop locally that loves to do these things.

From What little I know about how both system work the only difference is pretty much the Jet size and that you will not go as far on a tank of NG than Propane. Since Propane is stored as a Liquid and not as Gas. THis may be something that I will add to the 96 12v

Could ya use the same regulator and such that a propane kit uses? Or dose the whole system need to be redone. Is CNG at a higher pressure than propane. There is a shop in St. George, UT that wants like around $5500.00 to buy and install the kit. I'm not sure of the name of the shop, a friend called and asked me about it.
