If you were to run that and biodiesel, you could make these little people driving the prius, envious of your ecofriendly ways.

What kinda tank would you use to carry CNG?

38 mpg on Diesel, but they neglected to say how much CNG was being used.

Wow, that sounds like a meaningful figure.

Last I looked, Cummins had 6 cylinders that ran off of natural gas and that got over 5000 miles per gallon of Diesel fuel. I don't know how much natural gas they were running, but over 5000 MPG!

Anyone running this set up or propane on the 6.7L. The clearner burning seems that it would help these engines a ton. just a thought

I can tell you this. To achieve 29mpg on diesel with propane I consumed 4.1 gallons of propane to travel ~400 miles.

I don't know about the kits, but NG coming into homes is a much lower pressure than propane (the b*st*rd gas as hank hill says). Hence the larger holes for gas stoves, heaters, and grills than propane.

I've rigged up crawfish boiling pots on NG and I only had to bore out the holes.`

and you don't have to worry about running out of propane in the middle of a boil

Yep the line pressure into a house is much lower on NG than a propane setup due to tank pressure. But a CNG system's tank would house relatively high pressures.

Did some research and found a few facts.

Realistic diesel consumption is 40 to 50 mpg. This assumes a high percentage of CNG (50% - 80%).
CNG provides more power and lower EGT's.

CNG varies in price an unbelievable amount. In Utah it is $0.89 per gallon. In Southern Ca it is $3.20 a gallon. The good part is you can purchase a home compressor that you hook to your gas line and it will fill your tank at about 1 gallon per hour. It is most conveniently done at night. If you do the home method the cost of CNG is about $1.20 per gallon. Some farms have their own CNG wells. If you are this lucky the CNG is free and you only need some electricity to run the compressor.

You can run CNG anywhere from 0% to 80% with diesel. So pure diesel is 0% CNG and the other extreme is 20% diesel and 80% CNG.

The owner of the racing truck from the magazine said he has never seen a combustion chamber stay cleaner than on a diesel CNG mix. He said that even at the super high power levels he ran there was no piston scorching.

There are federal and state incentives to go CNG. In CA it is $2000 from the state.

I am still looking for a kit. I found one that is rumored to be $1200 without the bottle. I will post when I can confirm pricing.

You can buy used good bottles on Ebay for a couple hundred bucks.
