Would you say this is something that someone with moderate mechanical abilities can accomplish?

sure is, don't pay too much attention to the shop manual - no need to loosen motor mounts or use a Star Scan for "pre-alignment"

Take your time, scribe everything, although most of it will only go back one way and have fun.

lol you guys think chrysler has endless pockets? Bring you a loaner and drop your truck off when its done... AND rent you a truck of equal size? Are you nuts?

Costing you time away from work? Are you guys sitting at the dealer all day? My dealer has a shuttle driver, loaner cars, and an after hours drop box. And so does any other 5 star dealer... if you plan ahead it wouldnt take you any more than just travel time.

Yea its a that it's broken.. but it is, ain't my fault, ain't dodges, ain't cummins, its the EPA's... if dodge didnt meet there demands, there wouldn't be any 6.7s for you to be driving around in.

and btw, i have a great attitude towards customers who understand that cars break. and that life just plain sucks sometimes. but the ones who come in guns blazing thinking they're going to ruin my day? I ruin theres. been doin it for 3 years.. and my boss still loves me. Got the salary to prove it. I go home every day happy cuz its not my fault other people cars are broken, i provide solutions to problems.

People don't come in to ruin your day....and the ones who do....if you were as great as you say you are....you would do everything in your power to satisfy them so the situation comes out a win win for everyone. And it's not your fault cars are broken? Is it ours....and isn't that the whole purpose of a service dept. TO FIX broken things. And you are right it is not Dodge or cummins emissions...it is mercedes benz...blue tec...but you should know that...and you are only worried about the salary you have to prove it...and you wonder why we are dissatisfied with customer service....everyone who walks in your door should be top priorty...whether they drive a 50k truck....or a 500 dollar car.

I think everyone needs to take a big deep breath, say GOOSE FRAH BAH, and just chill the blank out

Some of you guys are sitting here ripping on CanRam because he turns wrench and he started this thread, IMO to give you guys an FYI/Heads up of what to expect, Seems like a nice guy to me

Granted I am not experiencing any of the 6.7L problems because I don't own one, I did however buy a dodge that has a VP44 on it and I knew/know the risk i am taking by probably having to replace it one of these days, should I go back to the dealer/Cummins and say this is BS and piss and moan? No I knew what i was getting and its the chance you take

An unrealistic expectation is that life is fair, life isn't fair, just be happy you have the money to afford you new truck and the boat you tow around, it could be a lot worse, just remember it could be a lot worse, I understand you guys are frustrated and you have a right to be, but to go to the mechanic who is just doing his job and get in his face about the POS you bought and he didn't design isn't right, just remember God gave you all this stuff you should just be thankful you have it cause he can take it all away quicker than you can snap your fingers

Ok canram does seem like a good guy...maybe he can help us by giving star our concerns and letting us know how to fix it when we approach OUR dealerships through his experience Now that is something that would benefit us all...what do you think canram

Once again, BS. How do you explain wanting to be 2010 compliant in 2007 is not Dodge's or Cummin's fault? The EPA DID NOT mandate that. It boils down to a marketing strategy to give them an advantage over the competition and it backfired.

But at a result, you got job security. For now.

And I'm not saying CanRam is bad guy. It's just not as simple as he's portraying (or believing) the issues to be. Consumer fallout takes awhile to be recognized. If things keep going the way they are now, CanRam will end up feeling the pinch because the dealers/industry will as a whole.

there is no such thing as job security at a dealership. In any dept.

I would love to get all your concerns up to chrysler, i love these trucks, i wanna own one of these trucks, and its sad to see them coming through the door when I do. HOWEVER... my go-between is my service manager.. and while he's a good guy... he doesn't have the time to make this his number one priority.

I think the best thing for you all to do, is get together as a group and approach chrysler.. a signed affidavit or something, the problem is getting all your names one it. You'd need like a website with the model letter written up on it, then each and every person who wants to, can visit that web page and attach their name to it, kinda like an online petition if thats clear? It would have to be professionally done to get noticed.

iPetitions - Start your FREE online petition

All none sense aside, i take pride in my work, and i've turned some reeeeally pissy customers into happy, returning customers. It's part of the job. BUT I don't stand for being blamed for things that arent my fault. I get half drunk, arse hole farmers rolling in with a CEL looking to blame the first thing they see, and thats me. So I explain the 5'ws to them and if they still wanna blame me... well then they get the attitude right back. Same goes for anyone else who won't listen to reason.

The reason I started this thread was to inform, and also let some of you.. go easy on your dealership. While some are shills, some aren't and they're not to blame. And these guys "tell you how to drive" are only giving you suggestions... honk on it every now n then.. and keep the engine brake on as much as possible. Again, more band aids, but its what chrysler is telling us to tell you. So we do.

Edit: And I agree it was a stupid decision to make them 2010 compliant so early, shoulda spent more time on R&D but they wanted their gold stars from the EPA. Which is what is letting us run models like the challenger, HEMI charger, 300, etc. But I have a feeling that weather this showed up on trucks in 2007, or 2010, there would have been problems, cuz diesels don't like cat's no matter what.

Well, I was just kidding about having someone pick my truck up and drop off a loaner when I need work done. For me, it's just always a hassle getting my vehicle to the dealer and then picking it up when it's done. I have not had the bad experiences some of you have had at dealerships either..

You would love to be in my situation then. A friend of mine is my connection to my local dealership as he is a tech there and when I get a code I call him and I drive his truck for a day and he takes mine into work. I like you am not having as many issues as the other guys (only 3 P2262 codes) on here but it is definately nice to just make a phone call and the truck is back the next night in running order.
