Duffman, I think you're missing the point... while it would be nice if they would agree to not void the warranty, it's still illegal. Unless by some miracle the EPA were willing to relax the regulations, I'm sure that Chevy, Ford and Dodge would all be happy to rip all this crap off the trucks, but none of them are going to endorse something that's illegal in order to avoid warranty work. Even if you brought it in on a flatbed and claimed it was a 'offroad use only' vehicle, no one in their right mind is going to believe you racked up thousands and thousands of miles at sled pulls... I think a better tact to take with this would be to also contact your representatives and let them know that the US economy is crashing, due in large part to $5 a gallon diesel fuel, and ask them why the government has just passed regulations which reduce the efficiency of our vehicles by 25-40%. Think of all the fuel we could save. And with ULSD, the emissions is becoming trivial anyway. Maybe instead of an Environmental Protection Agency, we need a Economic Protection Agency.

I'm not here to argue the merits of the global warming theory and emissions. But what I am arguing is that the EPA, political parties, and hell, our entire political system, will never get off the "reduced emissions bandwagon." We have to face it, EGR and DPF's are here to stay.

Nice Duffman! The only thing I would add is that Dodge should provide the DPF/EGR delete solution via recall.

Hey Spoolin, Actually I did mail my state legislature. There is a link to the SEMA ACTION NETWORK on here that I put a while back I will find it and post here. It has the contact info for PRO AUTO HOBBIESTS for every state. I have read all the EPA mubo and acording to everything I have read it states that even putting a dual exhaust on a gas vehicle is concidered tampering. So that being said it also under the specific 07 diesel reg. that the only real required part is the catalatic converter. And that it needs to be uder a certain level of soot at idle. As I am sure you know they dont smoke till you really get on them. |

The epa is already cracking down on some of the dealers selling these delete kits.....I am not going to name names...but I am sure you can find out by doing a little looking....what a load of crap....are they monitoring these sites? Who would lead them on to the companies doing this. Dodge needs to fix the problem....we have all figured out how to...why can't they? I am sure we are not pulling down the salaries they are...or sitting in as plush a office....same ole sell get our money and forget what happens after the sale...no customer service. If that is the case sell them for a thousand dollars so we don't care what happens or if we have warranty.

Goverment beuracracy(sp?) is bad, no doubt. But the real problem is the shift mentality of the growing left. I run into people routinely now who look at me and ask "why do you have such a big truck, why do you think you need such a big truck?" These people don't think that we should be able to own them. They think they are too wasteful. Alot of hypocracy too since I've been asked this by two people driving BMWs with way more performance than they "need". It's just pointing the finger. Right now it's trucks. Then it will be performance cars. Then it will be houses. Hey "why do you need a 1500 square foot house for you family?, did you know in Japan you only need 600 square feet?" I'm just making numbers up but the trend is there. Today the liberals can pat themselves on the back when they drive a Prius but eventually no one will like having to cut back every where.

I understand everyones frustrations with the issues. But you guys are smoking the curtains if you think the EPA is going to back off on their requirements or that Dodge is going to not void warranty or approve you to remove or modify EPA mandated devices. It will not happen. Ever. Especially when it's a relative minority of all of the vehicle owners (when you consider non-diesel vehicles) who are having these problems. I still believe there is a technical solution possible from Dodge to address these problems. My wife has a 2007 Mercedes ML320 turbo diesel. It has the same blue-tech emission system (Dodge got it from MB) our trucks have and it runs great. Never had a CEL of any type and it gets 32 mpg on the hwy. If Dodge doesn't come out with a fix for these trucks it will probably be because it would cost them too much to retrofit all that are out there. The way things are going they will be dropping their truck production to a fraction of what it is today and they are more concerned about not spending mega millions at a time when that could push them into bankruptcy.
