P2000 again today! This is the second one I've had. First P2000 was at 1200 miles and I got another today at 5100 miles. It's been running fine for the last several thousand miles, but I did pull a 6,000 lb trailer from Washington state to Texas (just like Dodge wants me to 100% of the time). My latest P2000 has popped after I've been driving it empty in the city for the past week. I have come to the same discovery as the rest of you have, and this is what I am proposing to be included on the window sticker of all new Dodge Rams equiped with the 6.7L turbo diesel:

***VEHICLE DELIVERED AS EQUIPED WITH A POORLY DESIGNED EMISSIONS SYSTEM***
***VEHICLE NOT SUITED FOR CONSUMERS WITH "NORMAL" DRIVING HABITS***
***CONSUMER PROHIBITED FROM DRIVING VEHICLE IN CITY***
***FACTORY WARRANTY IS NULL AND VOID IF CONSUMER EVER ALLOWS TRUCK TO IDLE***
***CONSUMER OBLIGATED TO PULL 5K (OR GREATER) TRAILER 100% OF TIME***
***CONSUMER OBLIGATED TO LEAVE INFANT CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WITH THE ENGINE TURNED OFF AND WINDOWS CRACKED IF USER EVER NEEDS TO REAMAIN PARKED WITH PASSENGERS INSIDE***

I wonder how many sales Dodge would make if they had the integrity to be honest with their buyers before they spent any money on their trucks. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck I bought, but the shop time is killing me. I happen to work for a living and having reliable transportation would be a plus in my life. I thought $50,000 dollars was plenty of money to buy reliable transportation, but I was aparently mistaken. Does anyone know how much money you have to spend on a new diesel truck these days to get good towing capabilities and trouble-free miles out of it???

yeah, how EXACTLY do they define this? If I got that remark from them, I'd say fine, now take your beating like a man!

Mine has appeared 3 times and I only have 6100 miles. The last time in came on I just unhooked a 21 ft trail with a D4 CAT on it for a 720 mile turn. Dealer said same stuff. Then also advised me that a new O2 sensor will be out late August. Kinda funny!

That is great. You should send that into Dodge / Cummins. Maybe they will put it in the new stickers.

Picked up my truck today after a repeat P2000 offense. The service agent told me that the deisel technician needed to "have a talk with me." HAAAA!!!! The diesel tech came out and said "you have got to stop idling your truck...it can never idle...do you know what a Diesel Particulate Filter is????" I responded and said "yes, its just one of the many components in Dodge's very poorly designed emissions system." He frowned and then spilled his guts about this that and the other. I took the paperwork and said "see you in a few weeks for my next P2000."

If anyone from Dodge reads on this site, all I can say is I'm sorry. I'm one of the few people in America who's vehicle idles in traffic or on the boat ramp. I feel terrible. You know...after I picked my truck up from the dealer I drove it to the GROCERY STORE and didn't hit more than 1800 RPM on the way. Other than going to the grovery store, my life is also riddled with some other very unusual habits such as getting up every morning and going to what I call a "JOB." I do not currently own a 20,000 lb trailer, but when I find one I am going to tow it behind my truck everywhere I go...even through the drivethru at McDonald's. That should help out your P2000 problem. Until then, I will be sure to drive around at 3,000 RPM getting 4 mpg in order to keep your "particulate matter" flowing smoothly.

Oh, and one other thing for you folks at Dodge: nice work marketing this truck to people with families. You know...huge back seat, flatscreen television, baby seat connections, etc. Yeah, it's just too bad I can't give my infant child any air conditioning in the Texas heat while I'm hooking up the trailer. I just crack the windows and tell him "son, you don't want the diesel technician to need to HAVE A TALK with us again now do you???"

Pull the diesel tech to the side the next time you go in there for the code and ask them off the record if they would notice if you did a DPF/EGR delete for your truck? It coudn't hurt to ask.
