Question for those with 5" TBE

How does your exaust note sound? I have watched several You Tube videos and all of the late models sound like 6 cyl. Camaros. Even the late model 5.9s sound like junk (on You Tube). Yet the 2nd Gens. that claim 5" TBE sound incredible; What is the main difference? Or perhaps they do sound good and it's just that all You Tube videos of the late models coincidentally have been recorded with subpar cameras with bad audio?

They all sound different. Its due to multiple injection events versus single on the older trucks. Mine is rather quiet with a deep tone.

Thanks for the info Comp. It seems the more I listen to the youtube clips of the newer trucks like ours, the more I realize it's almost a sound of too much air or blowing noise from the tailpipe; Do you agree?

I see in your sig. Hushpower, do you like the sound better with it installed?

You are correct on the sound. I am very happy with the sound from the Hushpower. It took the heavy drone from the stacks away and left a nice tone.

That should give you an idea on the sound.

Nice Rig!!!

Is there anyway to make the 6.7 louder from the front? Mine sounds like a gasser, yet in some youtubes I watch, the 6.7 sounds more like a typical rock crushing diesel.

Maybe an EGR thing? Because now, come to think of it, mine does seem to cycle from very quiet to moderate and then back.

egr isnt the noise maker, its dirty air going into your intake, the dpf system is what effects your sound. no use modifing anything after your dpf on your system.
do a dpf and egr deletes if you want to get sound and mpg

So the DPF can effect the engine sound (not coming from the tailpipe) in a cyclic manner? I was only guessing EGR because the engine sound gets louder after warm up and then it starts to cycle every few minutes or so.

These engines are designed to run quieter. Mine has gotten louder though all the processes i have gone through but the Engineers have added things to dampen the sound. The days of the good old Diesel Rattle are gone i am afraid.

This is just my opinion, but to me, mine sounds like the 5.9's strait with 5" exhaust and alot of turbo whistle. Also louder than i expected, but thats a good thing. Now with the windows up its very quite. The sound from your computer doesn't do it justis when watching it on youtube!

i dont know if it was mention but SS will give a deeper tone over the Aluminized steal which is a bit more raspy sounding
