Has anyone..

Had there check engine light come on with only 860 miles on there truck? I hope I'm not the only one. Yes the truck is completly stock. Doesn't act funny. So called the dealer and they told me that they had a few problems with them. That they just need to put in a new update. Though I have to wait untill Wednesday for them to look at it. Might have to buy a progarmmer so I can check codes if it happens again. The ones I have at work are not updated to 2008 yet.

You don't need a programmer to check out most codes. Turn the key on and off threee times leaving it on the third time and check the odometer window for a code. Do you have the CEL light on or is it the ETC light? Red lightning bolt or yellow engine?

Do the key trick to get the codes. Post them here and we can give you an idea what you are in for.

When I hold the trip reset button in and turn on the ignition the dash goes through some type of check - it also shows a few codes on the dash unit - what exactly am I seeing when this happens?

Thanks

I got my first CEL less than 5 miles from the first time I left the dealership lot. So count yourself lucky that you drove 800 miles before you got one. Oh BTW, I have had five in the first 2000 miles.

I've found that to no longer be true. Ever since the AX flash update the key code doesn't seem to work for many of the emission related codes. Seems Chrysler doesn't want us to know what the codes are.

I had mine in so many times for CELs that I got to know the techs. on a first name basis. Now I'm gonna have to send them Christmas Cards! Darn CELs! But now they are a thing of the past... Knock on Wood. Good Luck
