Based on that then you would assume that wires 6,7 & 8 control the opening and closing, 2,3 & 4 are position indication and 1 & 5 supply the power to the sensor. The next obvious question would be what combination of each tell it to open or close. Is the electronic version of the manual you pulled from on this site? Last question (for Slagburn)-- did you do the EGR delete on your truck

Exactly, now you know why there is no code free delete yet...

I understand all of that, but position wise there is a point where the valve is closed, whatever the 1's and 0's are. And I'm not suggesting code free. I just want to figure out the combination to those 6 wires to keep the valve shut, from an external source. If the ECM sees it can't control the valve, but it knows it's position, logically it would respond with all of the other variables to allow the engine to run. Yes, it will set a code because it can't control the valve, but the code "shouldn't" be more severe than unplugging the EGR valve all together. It may not work, but I won't know if I don't try!

If you have some way of making a PWM signal of approximately 80% duty cycle you can apply that 12v signal to pin 6 and 7 and make 8 to ground that would get you pretty close from what I have seen. The stepper motor appears to be powered througout operation of the engine to prevent just what we have said here, shifting from boost. It is these PWM signals that maintain a little force on the valve and allow it to remain closed.

12 Volt DC PWM -- that may be a little difficult......... If we knew the current draw required, you could size a diode to shunt the voltage spike. Then you could just send it a 12VDC signal. May be more trouble than it's worth...
