ULSD verses LSD Diesel

Been thinking about this so I'm going to lay it out and get it off my mind.
As I have said before about all the complaints on the emissions problems that are being experienced. Here in Irving Texas you got to look real close to make sure you are getting the ultra low sulfur diesel instead of the low sulfur diesel.
Cummins stresses the importance of ulsd fuel only....
Wonder if people are trying to burn just the lsd thinking it is the right fuel...?
I'm not having all these problems as being stated in some of the threads.Any comments.

The ULSD should be mandated everywhere by now, I know there was a date set but not sure when it was.

we have a fuel pump at work and as Buck 08 stated ulsd was force fed to eveyone on a certain date no diff than lsd was. I would say that any pump that is labeled lsd and not ulsd just didnt have the sticker updated. All I know is that with the intro of the egr isx in our kw's we lost 20% mpg and another 10% to 20% with the intro of lsd and ulsd.

A truck stop in Smithton,Pa ,near me, has both fuels. The ulsd has a bright yellow green tint. The lsd has the old dark color.I guess what I'm saying we have both.

im not saying you couldn't be getting it and in larger areas may be there is a surplus that needs to get used up, but i would think that they would just mix it in with the ulsd. Are you sure it is not some sort of blend.

i work in houston and on my drive in from conroe i get fuel at the big truck stop Texaco just south of Rayford Rd. on I-45... it ONLY carries LSD, I'm not sure why they haven't switched over, about the only place i know of anywhere around me... but the pumps do have the warning about using it in 2007 and newer diesels, but I see guys all the time in brand new Powerjokes and Cummins getting it there, I doubt they know what they're getting
I fill up there just because my truck runs better and gets better mileage on the old stuff
Oh, another thing they only charge maybe 5 cents less or so than other stations, I like the LSD, but can't understand why it would be around the same price as the ULSD, i know it's much cheaper to make than the new stuff... but the oil companies sure do like their money

I'm pretty sure the PA Turnpike is still LSD - or it was 2-3 months ago. Also, Turkey Hill gas stations in PA are all LSD.

I run it every now and then, and surprisingly, in my last tank I've so far gotten the best mileage with it.

United States
As of September 2006, on-highway diesel fuel sold at retail locations in the United States is ULSD.

Ultra-low sulfur diesel was proposed by EPA as a new standard for the sulfur content in on-road diesel fuel sold in the United States since October 15, 2006, except for rural Alaska. California required it since September 1, 2006, and rural Alaska will transition all diesel to ULSD in 2010. This new regulation applies to all diesel fuel, diesel fuel additives and distillate fuels blended with diesel for on-road use, such as kerosene, however, it does not yet apply to train locomotives, marine, or off road uses. By December 1, 2010, all highway diesel will be ULSD. Non-road diesel transitioned to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and to ULSD in 2010. Locomotive and marine diesel also transitioned to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and to ULSD in 2012. There are exemptions for small refiners of nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel that allow for 500 ppm diesel to remain in the system until 2014. After December 1, 2014 all highway, nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel produced and imported will be ULSD.
