Avid, I wasn't thinking about the regen using more fuel. Good point. I am still hoping it all gets worked out and becomes a simpler life. Anyway hope you find a great deal on a 5.9 if you go that way. Nice thing about the 5.9 is all the mods you can do to it!

yeah i all most bought a 07 with a 6.7, but with it being so new and i knew there would be bugs to be worked out. So i went with the good old 5.9, kind of glad i did.

no problems

i have 8000 towing/ hauling km's with no problems. with this new dpf delete kit the potential for this motor is just beginning. i was hesitant at first with buying the 6.7 but other than the mpg i am blown away with the performance of this vehicle. exhaust(turbo) brake with auto6 is fantastic. and by the way i had an 06 manual with crazy larry and i never miss that nut case.

I voted for the 5.9L, because that is what I ended up getting. I almost bought one of the new 6.7's, but opted not to because I knew there would be some bugs to work out. I have heard so many horror stories about this new motor, and I am glad I didnt get it. I am sure in a few years it will be the one to have, and I will upgrade again, but for now I love my 5.9, and have no problems. Good luck to you in figuring out what you are gonna do, and hopefully you can get the truck you want with no problems.

6.7? Have you checked out the emission controls on that engine?

Why a low mileage 5.9? That engine with only normal maintenance will go 500,000 miles PLUS. We bought one with 120,000 miles for a song and now have over 210,000 miles now and just added a bypass filter.

The 2gen trucks are a real savings in truck payments / bank interest.

I had a 2nd gen gas 5.9 and it was okay, but I had some build quality problems. I had rust on my doors (pinch weld pushed out), my friends dash cracked 3 times, small back seat. Other than that it was a good truck, I just like the 3rd gens better.

Low milage because of financing. I've heard it's harder (or impossible) to get financing when there is over 100k miles on the odometer (dealer told me this). I also seem to be driving around 20k a year so it's going to add up quick since I plan to keep it a while.

The 08 is much better than the 07.5's. Many of the bugs have been worked out. As far as performance, my 05 with an Edge EZ, AFE CAI and straight pipe for the cat and muffler ran a best of 15.16 with 50K on it. My 08 with just an AFE Stage 2 with Proguard7 ran a 15.21 when it only had 2K on it. The 6.7 will run circles around the 5.9 and when it comes to pulling you can't even come close to comparing them. I owned 7 5.9 CTD's and wouldn't trade my 6.7 for any of them.

Sticking with my 6.7... Good luck with your lemon law fight...I've not been happier than I am right now with my 6.7....Same engine with emissions changes...I know first hand the problems associated with first year anything but I bought this truck with my eyes wide open...Let the buyer beware and I have faith in Cummins

maybe I'm lucky but my 6.7 has performed well, 13-14 mpg in town, 19 highway, more than enough power to haul any rig parts I've got in the box, anyway 5.9 or 6.7, Cummins every time!
