Well I don't know how you guys get such great mileage but I have an 07 3500 6.7 DRW with 4:10's and the best I have ever seen in 7000 miles is 14 driving. Throw on the 14k trailer and that is HISTORY! Lucky to get between 8-10 on flat ground!

Well, Decisions, Decisions. So, With The 4.10 And The Stock Tires, Which I Will Keep Until They Wear Out, What Rpm Are You Turning At 75 Mph? It Seems Some Dudes On Hear Are Saying They Get There Best Fuel Mileage At Or Around 2k Rpm. Is This The Case For Most? Only Have Abouut 5 Days To Change This Option. Thanks For The Help. Dj |

Seeing numbers under 12 on the overhead for me isnt uncommon at 75, although generally its around 12.5 to 14 at that speed.

Yeah, I feel the same way. My truck is lifted with 37's, and I am getting better gas mileage than most of the guys with the 6.7L. I knew I did something right when I ordered my truck.

I tow a lot! If you live in the flat country then go 3.73. If you are going to put 35's on then 4.10's and you can still tow fairly well. If you live in the mountains then keep the 4.10's and just slow down on the highway. After all is said and done you need to decide what your truck is used mostly for and set it up for that reason. Drive at 60-65 and get 20-21mpg at 70-75 I get 17-18. If I am towing at a safe same speed you know 60-65 I get 14 or so. After all it is a truck no a street racer

I have a 3500 SRW 4x4 with the G56 and 3.73's with a 5.9 and I don't get the mileage that my dad gets with his 2500. I have a best of about 18.6mpg totally unloaded and doing less than 70mph the entire tank on the highway. I am regularly in the 16.xx mpg range and don't really like that. He pulls a solid 20mpg with his NV5600 and 3.55's in his 99 4x4. I like running the stock michelins but I am gonna have to go up a size or two next time to try and reclaim some RPMs that are out there so I can get better mileage. I am regularly hooked to anywhere from 6k to 11k at this point and I get between 10 and 13 towing. My truck is stock except an amsoil drop in air filter and I just changed the tranny fluid to Amsoil synthetic to see if it would help my shifting.

Hey Smitty, Do you have a 5.9 or a 6.7? 17 on the highway, is that at 70-75 mph? if so I can handle that. Not looking for grocery getter type mileage just do not want to be looking at 15 on the highway. Will be going to larger tires just nothing to extreme. Thanks everyone for the replies. Also ordered the 4.10 just cuz I am drag racer at heart, could not help myself, ya know what I mean? |

Man I really feel bad for you guys with the new shiny trucks. I know they are heavier, but dang the milage is down compared to the old ones. A friend has an 07 mega cab all stock and not only does my old 12V outrun him, but I get 22mpg empty on the interstate, 24.5mpg running 65 on the two lane roads and 14mpg towing 6,000lbs. BUT< his truck sure is nice inside and out and if I didn't have a 70 mile a day commute I'd probably get one and forget the milage. I guess it's just another of the tradeoffs. We all have to decide what's important to us. George

4.10's or 3.73's
I have a 2006 Auto w/ 4.10's and 20k on the odometer and get great gas mileage. Everyday driving I average 15-16 mpg depending on the foot. Interstate driving around 75 mph I hover around 20-21mpg. Towing a 10k trailer I get 13-15mpg depending on the terrain. Im very happy with my decision to get the 4.10's. However like many people have said you wont be happy with 4.10's if you like driving over 75mph on a consistent basis. She will be screaming and sucking diesel Good Luck!!!
