dodge oil change indicator

I have a new 6.7 and like the rest of you my oil change light came on at 2500 and I called the dealer and the lady said the indicator just needs to be reset adn then change the oil at 7500 miles and reset it again to calibrate the oil change sensor. She also mentioned though that all dodge vehilces do have a sensor that judges the oil depending on the type of dirving you're doing. I'm going to change the oil now and reset the indicator and see when it goes off again. I think it's BS that a diesel should have the changed at only 2500 miles especially since i only dirve on the highway. I've also heard that using the exhaust brake frequently will make the oil dirtier faster. Any thaughts on this or other sugestions about the oil change indicator?

I could of bought the 6.7 for the same price as the 5.9 my dealer told me, I am glad I took the 5.9 now, if this is just the start of the small issues, I wonder what happens at 10,000-20,000 miles.
My dealer told me 7500 on the first oil change with the 5.9, I have never seen a light come on yet.

I have all the training that Chrysler offers for the cummins engine and I don't know of any sensor that everyone talks about. All of it consists of programming in the computer and personally I think that it can't be correct. Mine came on at 1500 miles and I just reset it. There's no way after paying out the wazoo for this truck that i'm going to do $50-$75 oil changes ever MONTH! I've have heard of runnig the brake to keep soot buildup out of the turbo but not to keep the oil cleaner. Have you ever seen a diesel that didn't have black black oil? I hate to discount this "service minder" but I disregard it myself and stick to the tried and true method....a pen and paper

Run amcuk thanks for the info My dealer said the same thing but hte lady who I was talking to didn't seem too confident and with the other poeple on here havign the same problems I just decided to play it safe change the oil. I am using the low sulfur oil I put valvoline premium blue I think. $55 bucks damit. Yeah the oil was black but nothing exceptional. I mean it's a diesel. I told my neighbor who bought the same truck a week after I did and he has yet to have his light come yet and he's at 1500 miles. Anyways I reset my change oil light after the change and am waiting to see when it will go off again. The good news is that after the oil change i'm getting almost 2 more MPG. YeeHaw.

Cool that's kinda high for that oil. Check how much the mopar 6700 oil is. that way, with the problems with the 6.7, chrylsler will have one less thing to blame
