Don't get the timer ones. Easy install but what a piece of crap. It is what I have in the 06 but I hate it. Constantly pumping the brake pedal to get the trailer to release. I have heard good things from Maxx brake and will get one soon as I can.

Some of them ramp up on a timer. As long as the brake lights are on the trailer brakes keep increasing in pressure until the preset max is achieved. It resets when the brake lights go off. So you have to "pump" the brakes to keep the trailers from maxing out their brakes. If you set it low so the trailer doesn't drag you down, you risk problems in a panic stop senario. They just suck IMHO. But it is what I have until it gets replaced. My other trucks have a pendelum type controller and I like them much better. The Maxx Brake types are definitely better because they work off of line pressure. Lots of pressure (panic stop) = max brakes applied to trailer. Light brake pressure (normal slow down) = minimal pressure to trailer brakes.
