2007.5 6.7l
So I have been reading the forums for about a week now, trying to decipher the tech talk and figure out my best options. I thought I would ask you guys that have a 07.5 on what is the best way for me to go. I drive my truck to work every day through Dallas traffic and I also haul a horse trailer usually every weekend to barrel races for my daughter. I am not at all happy with my MPG, between driving to work and pulling the trailer I think I average around 13 mpg (hand calculated). Found the post on the MAP sensor which I will clean today but other than that I am looking to do the DPF and EGR delete. Once the DPF and EGR deletes are done what are the most common issues seen with warnings and codes and how are you guys fixing them? Also looking for a place to purchase the items needed to do the deletes.

My suggestion... 1.) Smarty 2.) AFE Mega-Cannon II cold air intake 3.) 5" Turbo-Back Exhaust 4.) Black Ops Diesel intake horn 5.) Grid Heater Delete (It don't get that cold in Texas....It don't here in Alabama either...so, might as well remove it. LOL) 6.) Complete EGR & EGR Cooler delete. These are my suggestions....You will get great results from the Black Ops intake horn. Buck (Black Ops Diesel owner) said his jumped up to 21.5 or something like that after he installed his for testing. I have one of his horns, but haven't had the time to install yet. Also, give James @ Rollin Smoke Diesel a call, and tell him that Alabama Mud Machine sent ya. He can hook you up with whatever you need. He also sells the Black Ops intake horns.

I went with the XRT tuner and a H&S Stage 2 DPF delete kit (4" down tube and delete pipe) which worked well with the 5" Silverline DPF exhaust I already had on the truck. The complete EGR delete kit can be added for $100. Get with James at rollinsmokediesel.com That's where I got my XRT and delete kits from. Since I did the deletes I have not had one code or issue. If you do go with H&S products (XRT and or Black Maxx) they have outstanding customer service!!!!

Those are all good suggestions above. If you have been running for a long time stock, your grid heater element may be a little sooted up as well. Either delete it or clean it off. Whatever you see on your MAP sensor, it is worse on the grid heater. That will be your indicator.

Back on topic ![]() Either tuner, the Smarty or one of the H&S products will work on the 6.7 and both have been noted to help the fuel mileage. Both have been proven to help these 6.7L engines run like they should.

![]() And often times, the first choice is not always the best/correct choice. ![]() Glad I can joke with somebody on here about this without somebody getting their maxi-pads in a wad and blessing everyone out. Remember the last Cobbs diesel thread in the "Performance Section"??? I got called all kinds of names, and all I did was make 1 comment about if SOMEONE (not necessarily Cobbs) was a liar, I would call them out.......And folks ran with that, then included me in their bashing fest, and saying that I needed to act like a man and what-not.....I thought I was acting like a man by not participating in childish bash-fest and not responding to their demeaning posts towards me......What do you think?

pretty much whats already been said above, xrt or smarty...just make sure when you do the exhaust you go with the downpipe delete as well not just the dpf/cat delete because there is a nox filter in the downpipe that needs to be gotten rid of.
