I wouldnt go that far.. it doesnt happen all the time, there is just risk of metal filling getting caught up. how long has it been since the flush?

I wouldn't do anything except cross my fingers and hope I got away with it this time. I lost a transmission on a gas burner the same way but it had 350k miles on it. It was already giving problems is why it was done in the first place. All I had done to this transmission before this was to change the fluid and filter every 60K miles. Oh well.

I'm not so sure I would worry about this. Dusty Hawk of HTS flushed my trans. I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing.

I've always gotten my trans flushed often like every 30 to 50,000 miles and have never had a problem i've always heard there good as long as it's consistent and often, even got my 68rfe flushed at 30 and going to again at 60

Took a car in once for a flush. The trans was slipping bad before, so I figured it couldn't do any more damage but was worth a shot. Well, we used that car another 50,000 miles after that flush without any problems and the trans worked better than ever. I've heard tons of horror stories, especially after I told my buddies I dropped the car off for the job, but in my experience it saved me from buying a new trans.

Generally if a "perfectly fine" transmissions goes shortly after a flush - it wasn't perfectly fine, and was probably already on its way to a slow and painful death.

There is nothing wrong with doing a Trans flush !
The problem comes in when it is done improperly or a cleaning solution is used. Many chemical companies are pushing their cleaners(more revenue) Most will be a solvent base. You never want to put a solvent into anything that requires lubrication. If your trans has metal filings in it you are already doomed hard parts are worn.

Trans Flush

A friend of mine who is retiring from rebuilding transmissions all of his life, claims that those machines paid for all of his children to finish colledge! He says that they cause the metal particles to stir up and enter the valve bodies, Either it will be OK, or it will give trouble right away!

so if a tranny flush isn't the way to go, then what is the best way to change the fluid?
