Question Bully Dog Gt tuner?

I have a bully dog on a 2012 cummins, with a S&B air intake with all the emissions still on. What do you guys dislike about the bully dog tuners?

The bully dog tuner works just fine but it will not allow you to perform any emission deletes which is what benefits these trucks the most when it comes to extended engine life, better fuel economy, and obviously more power.

So you couldn't just clear the engine lights after the deletes?

You can clear the diagnostic trouble codes that cause the check engine light but the truck will not run well enough to effectively drive the truck and the check engine light will come on immediately when you start the truck even if you clear the codes every time.

You will need to reprogram the truck with a tuner that deletes the programming for the emissions like the H&S XRT or Mini Maxx or Smarty Jr. and or Sr. and most of these products are still available but they have all been discontinued due to the EPA crack down about 4 months ago.

They key is to stop the regen process first, stop the EGR process 2nd, and supress codes 3rd. The codes aren't the big problem. Those can be cleared.

The Bullydog GT doesn't do anything to help you with the DPF or the EGR. So if you remove the DPF and regens start, you'll have a mess on your hands. Lots of smoke and then a probable limp mode after...

Well...I run a Bullydog GT and have for 30,000 miles with SIMS , fully deleted TBE and no egr cooler and I am fully satisfied. Half the price of H&S and includes transmission tuning free. I have lots of power, guages, and great fuel mileage. I do have a CEL, but no big deal. Very happy!

^^ Right there is what I was gonna say and see as a "fix" to the EPA stuff. Get a set of SIMs and you can still do deletes as long as you have a device that will clear those codes.

Jay's right. There are 4 total temp sensors (two pronged plugs) and 2 O2 sensors (6 pronged plugs). With SIMS you have to move the O2 sensors over to the replacement exhaust in the bung holes and the 100ohm SIMS get plugged into the 4 temp sensors. Unplug the DPF pressure hoses from the pressure sensor (leaving them open to the atmosphere) and then you're done.

Unplugging the EGR is optional but will make the CEL come on AND may de-rate performance in some 2012 trucks.
