Performance Hood Review

So here's some pictures of the new "AEV Ram Heat Reduction Hood" I put on my truck. It's supposed to remove excess under hood heat and look good doing it. This should be helpful off road, towing, or racing. We'll see how that works, lol. The pictures on their website are taken from overhead so I took pictures of the hood from different angles. I also took a picture underneath one of the vents to show the system for draining water to the gutter across the top of the fender, under the edge of the hood.
This hood fit well and had all the holes, fittings, and brackets needed to replace all the original under hood items, including the liner. The hood was packaged well for shipping but came with 3 dings and the metal had an alligator like finish caused from the stamping process. The dings took 3 hrs. to repair and the alligator finish took 4 hrs. of block sanding and 4 coats of primer. The paint shop applied the color coat and clear coat on both sides of the hood to prevent corrosion and overall I am happy with the way it came out.

That looks really good! I like the fact it maintains a factory-like appearance, yet has increased functionality.

American Expedition Vehicles - Brute Kit, V8 HEMI, Aftermarket Jeep Conversions, Products, Wheels, Accessories and Highline Kits for Jeeps (TJ, JK, WK, XK).

Here is a link to the website that has some better pictures. I was interested in the fact that it vents under hood heat when racing or off roading. I like to do both.

Have you noticed a reduction in operating temps or cooling faster?

Not yet, but it's still pretty cold here. I have other performance upgrades planned and I think any cooling effect I can get will be helpful. The main reason I bought the hood though is because I liked the looks of the hood and wanted something different that would set my truck apart from others.
