agoldxj gave me the idea.
Did the Black Vinyl Delete mod today. Removed the black vinyl around the window frame between the front and rear door.
Wasn't hard to remove the vinyl but there are some tips I discovered to make it easy to get all of it the first time. I found if I peeled from the door post toward the window, it made it much easier. Make sure you roll the windows down so that you can pull the vinyl from behind the felt. On the inside of the rear doors, remove the fastener tab that holds the rubber trim in place around the top portion of the inside of the rear door. On the base of the windows on both the front and rear doors, there is a screw inside the doors holding the exterior molding on the outside -- remove that so you can lift the molding and get all the vinyl out. All this makes sense when you actually see it.
To remove the glue, I didn't want to drop $40 for a eraser wheel right off the bat so I tried a few things. First I tried a regular eraser / school supply type. Was ok but really messy. Then I just tried working it with a microfiber cloth and nothing applied. Worked but smeared some of the glue into the finish a little.
The best was simply not trying to remove it but using Meguire's Cleaner/Wax Paste in the deep red small tub. Worked like a charm to remove the glue in just two applications.....
I updated the pics in the link in my sig. I like the look without the door vinyl much. Will be easier to keep nice cause I can wax it and not worry about it oxidizing in the Florida Sun like most plastics do...
Before with black vinyl:
After with black vinyl removed:
Next: Front door tint to match rears (not darker tho)...
