My '16 5500 has the same deal. Wires to where the rear speakers should be but the fade/balance on the radio is front only. Gonna give this a try tomorrow.

Here is what I found from talking to some Ram truck people. This was finally fixed during the 2017 model year. The earlier trucks (just chassis cabs) only have a front speaker radio and rear speakers are not wired to the radio. I am pretty sure people have wired the rears to the front speaker circuits and got them to work without a fader.

Finally tried it today, twice. Didn't seem to work. Anybody have any luck with it. Also checked and the truck is prewired for dash speakers. Gonna give them a try. Hopefully they are tied into the doors and work.

Dash speakers do work. Just have to get the correct harness. Different than the 6x9.
