A mineral oil based oil, assuming they are marketing it as a synthetic oil, means it is a Group III synthetic akin to Mobil 1 or Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme. It would then not be a Group IV PAO (poly-alpha-olefin) synthetic or a Group V (ester) based synthetic. AMSOIL is a Group IV primarily with Group V bases where advantageous. I pulled up a few MSDS sheets from the Lubrication Engineers website and they seem to also reinforce the assertion that they are a mineral oil based synthetic (Group III).
