How many times have you started up yer truck in the cold months and wondered what that growl sound was? Its the power stearing pump trying to turn thru that dino oil, I switched mine over to synthetic automatic tranny oil,I am sure there are many other brands of synthetic oil that would do the job but that is what I run in my transfer case and I had some on hand , The power stearing pump sounds much better now and the growl is gone on cold starts. The job was simple, I jacked the front of the truck up and pulled the lower hose off the pump and let it drain out into a bucket, then I turned the stearing wheel lock to lock to get all the fluid out possible, put the new fluid in and run wheel lock to lock several times to purge all air out of system and all is well now.
Cheers, Kevin
