*Attention*(2006 DH Trucks)
This is something I have seen about 4 or 5 times in the last couple months and I think this is going to be a TSB soon. I did get a tech report today telling the dealerhips ot be aware of the problem The problem is on the 2006 DH Trucks, the vehicle may experince an intermintant NO START problem. If the vehicle sets for a while it may or may not restart. It will act as like a bad battery issue becuase some and most accessories will work but now start / no click. The problem is the starter wire is grounding out. THis is what you need to look for and is fairly simple since most of us I think change our own oil. With the hood up, there is a starting wire (YELLOW) with a connector in it, located up high running from the main harness to the battery. It is on the drivers side between the Battery and the Master Cylinder. What you need to do is look further down on the engine area at the starter and find the yellow wire again. Just above the starter is an engine crank case vent tube and is secured to the side of the block via a small loop bracket. The yellow starting wire on some of the DH Trucks is rubbing the above stated bracket for the vent tube. You will have to get under the truck to see that area just above the starter. You can simply zip-tie the wire away from the braket so it does not rub. If it has been rubbing,it may need a wiring repair. If it has not been rubbing I would tie it out of the way anyway. I am sharing this not to make anyone alarmed but just so next time you are changing the oil you might avoid a bad day in the future. Im not the best at expaining things sometimes so if the above does not make since, ask any questions you might have. JOSH

Thanks for keeping us up to date on this stuff. This will be invaluable info as the 06's start to rack up the miles and the masses have had time to "rub". :thumbsup You're the man!

There is a simillar issue I have seen with shorted trailer wiring. This is on the trailer side not the truck wiring. If this is the case you will more than likely get codes B166B, B166C, B166F, & B1670. If you get the code DTC P1277 – Starter Control Circuit Low will be in TIPM. This is the one that will be the started wire I described on my first post. Look for both with a no start no click issue. JOSH
