Removing & Reinstalling A CP3

First take the upper Rad. hose off the rad. and fold it back out off the way, next remove the serpentine belt, next remove the cp3 gear accsess plug from the timing cover(has a 3/8 square hole so a 3/8 ratchet works great)The next step you need a steering wheel puller, then you will need to either remove the fan or do as I did cut my puller bolt down so it will fit between the fan and cp3 gear, next remove the nut holding the gear on the cp3 shaft but becareful there is a lock washer on there also and you do not want to drop it in the timing cover(small magnet works good to get the washer off)now you are ready to pull the gear, the gear has to holes in it for the gear puller(you cant see the holes so you need to feel your way to get the puller in place)with just a couple turns on the puller bolt the gear should pop loose,I left the puller on the gear so that it would be easier the get the gear back on when reinstalling the pump, next remove the banjo bolts holding on the fuel lines and fold them off to the side, then remove the high pressure line from the pump and the fuel rail, now unplug the wires going to the pump fuel control actuator, next step is to unbolt the pump, three 13mm nuts on the back side of the pump, now the pump is ready to come out, you may need to get between the pump and the mounting bracket with a regular screw driver and work it out.To reinstall just reverse the removal steps,It would be a good idea to replace the four fuel line sealing washers with new ones before reinstalling the lines.once you get the pump inplace and you get the gear back on the shaft then remove the gear puller.dont forget to top off the antifreeze when done because you loose about a quart when you take the upper rad. hose off.I took some photos but could not figure out how to post them here but they are in my gallery over at dtr.

My pump is now tore apart waiting till mon.to get the new orings and seals to fix the leak,I have a new pump but im gonna rebuild the one that was on the truck and put it back on to see how long it goes before it leaks again if it leaks again.

pics are now in my gallery I will take more before I put everything back together,I took a good shot of the weep hole but it did not get, so I will take another one of it before I reassemble the pump.
