The conversion is pretty straight forward. You need to change the input shaft/gear on your transfer case because the auto has a 23 spline output shaft and the manual has a 29 spline shaft. You also need to change out the bell housing adapter plate because there is a spacer built into the manual adapter plate that puts the started too far away and it won't engage (don't ask me how I know). The stock rad mounted tranny cooler bolts right in, and the stock tranny cooler lines route fairly easily. I opted not to install the water/oil cooler above the starter, and just made up a couple fittings to connect the two lines together. I also put a tee in that spot for my tranny temp gauge.
Once the tranny was in, I hooked up the cooler lines and the standalone tranny controller, tapped the TPS sensor and MAP sensor for the controller, wired up power and routed the laptop cable into the cab and away I went. The ATS Standalone tranny controller is flat out awesome. I can't think of anything you can't do with this thing. I have to thank Joel at ATS for answering my questions...he has been great to deal with.
Man Jeff that is slick... I especially like the floor mounted auto shifter... That's something I could get my hands around... literally..
Are you the first to do this transformation?
Really cool...:thumbsup

Thanks. The floor shifter is a really nice touch...and it looks factory!
I am pretty sure I am not the first to do this....and I bet I won't be the last

Awesome. Simply awesome. I was going to sell my truck because my wife can't shift the 5600. She had RC surgery on her right shoulder and her stick days ended. Now I have a solution.
Brother, you have shown me the way and I thank you!!

Nice clean job! My concern would be trying to take it out of 2nd 4th or 6th gear instictively and shoving that baby right into reverse! Or theres aways the panic and go for the clutch durring a fast stopping situation that is going to have your heart in your throat. But im sure those issues will only be around for a week or two. I regret my NV5600 every traffic jam, ENJOY THE EASY LIFE!

The Lokar shifter has Park and Neutral lock outs so you can't go from drive to reverse (or vice-versa) without pressing the lockout button
