Get More Head Light!
This is not legal for "on road/Highway" use! Anyone attempting this needs basic electrical knowledge This mod will allow all six bulbs to burn on high beams the fog lamps, high beams and low beams at the same time EST. time should be about 1 hour to 1.5 hours First you will need some patience (to get the headlights out!):Complain: 1 or maybe 2, 12v coil relays (depending how you choose to wire this) About 20' of #16 wire 10 pack of blue squeeze connectors Electrical tape 1 inline fuse holder (30 amps) Yellow butt connectors Basic electrical tools crimper/striper ECT. A few sockets/wrenches long extension and some torks drivers (however it’s spelled you know the star screws) To begin go ahead and remove the positive cables Then take out the head lights ....its not easy there are three bolts one plastic screw on the front.....the hard part is the little square clip on the back you have to squeeze it to make it let go of the head light! The passenger side can be accessed through the air box...the driver’s side? I cut a slice in the wheel well splash guard kind of behind and under the headlight in the shape like _l so I could shove my hand in there to get at it ......and it would close back up when I was done now the object here is to connect the two low beams together run the #14 wire from the drivers side to the passenger side...I fished it through the upper core support tube that the hood latch is mounted to ....there a numerous ways I just thought that was a slick way ! Then I used the blue squeeze tap a line connectors to tap the passenger low beam wire on the drivers side I tapped the low beam wire there also (w/ another short piece of wire) I twisted both ends together on the drivers side (ends coming back to the relay from the low beam splices) put them in one end of a yellow butt connector and crimped it (this still leaves one end open on the butt connector) then I hooked one wire from the normally open terminal (usually marked N.O.) on the relay to the open end on the yellow butt connector Now both the low beams are tied together and landed on the relay... Then I got power from the 12v+ stud on the power distribution module... used a inline fuse holder...went to the common on the relay (usually marked as C) I then spliced into the high beam wire w/ the squeeze connector on the drivers side and ran a wire to the relay coils "+" terminal (this will energize the coil when the high beams come on) then I hooked the "-" side of the relay coil to a chassis ground (to many places to list where that’s available) And there you go low beams and high beams at once Fog lights You can hook the fog lights also to the N.O. terminal however the fog light will always be on when the low beams are on AND you will always have to turn the fog light and head lights on together to prevent damaging or over amping the fog or low beam circuit! When you’re NOT using the high beam mod. a better way is using a separate relay still energizing the 2ed relay coil also from the drivers side high beam wire and switch the same 12v+ power source the above relay (from the bolt) to the fog lights hot wire When you’re done tape it all up and make it look pretty and shove it back behind the headlamp and reinstall your headlights I would go to this free site and down load the wiring diagram files everyone should have a copy of this stuff to get you’re wiring color codes ECT. I think they change the wire colors every year! http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/ Good luck feel free to ask me any questions..... Oh one more thing....turn your screw on the top of your fog lights up almost two full turns...clockwise and not everyone but some people say this will make your lamp out light pop on for 5 or ten sec when you start the truck if you use the one relay w/ the fogs and low beams tied together..... Two relays works better so the low beams and fog lights don’t have to be on at the same time anytime the head lights are on
