that's where I have mine at 'the ground' but have you ever had the trans. not shift down into 1st with the switch off. mine will stay in 2nd or 3rd with the switch off, does not want to shift down when you come to a stop. other than that the lockup works.

check your connections, i dont know where you tapped the wire but check the plug at both the PCM (it will be the midle of the three) and at the trans

AFAIK none of the Dodges will lock the TC in 1st gear. You have to have a switch to do that (and maybe a modded VB on some years?). On the 06's it will lock in 2nd if you pull the shifter down, but I don't think most of the other years will even do that?

well I got It fixed and I'm glad to say it had nothing to do with the lock up or what I did while hooking it up. It ended up being the electrical solenoid or sensor I had changed them both while I had the pan off I guess they are know for going out and it make the truck not want to down shift into first gear. so just to let eveyone know that the lock up switch works just like it was explained. thanks to everyone that gave me some input on the problem I had.:thumbsup

Electrical Advice.

I installed the switch and it works without any Check engine lights or problems.

It will kill the engine if engaged while stopped.

When I hit the switch the trans automatically goes to overdrive and locks. This really lugs the engine when doing 25mph or less. Good for low speed coal rollin though.

Heres what I did. I ran a wire from pin 7 on the 48re to a toggle on the dash then I ran a wire from the other side of the toggle to ground.

I then used a jumper on the relay and re-installed the realy. Everything works good.

If you take a 12V hot wire and touch it to a ground it will arc, if you hold it there the wire will get red hot in a few seconds.

Heres my question. basically this is doing the same thing how come theres no red hot wires in this setup?

Another question. If you wanted to use a 3 pole toggle with an led that lit up when the switch was activated how would you do it.
