Got a question in regards to the jumper on the relay.....

What purpose does this serve? Before I go and Giv'r, I want to understand what I am shorting out first.... LOL

Im just having a hard time getting my head around putting voltage somewhere it shouldnt be.

What you are doing is causing a short on the 12v line that keeps the solenoid that controls lockup closed. When the voltage drops below 12v the solenoid opens and locks the T.C. If this happens any other time that the ECM expects it to happen the truck will show a check engine light and go into limp mode. By supplying voltage to the relay (with the jumper) the ECM never knows the T.C. is locked so it does not throw the code. If you don't short the relay you will only hurt performance not help. Don't worry about shorting that relay, it doesn't hurt anything:thumbsup Just make damn sure you get the right two pins, when installing the short!

Im not trying to steal anyone thread but is the TC lock up switch safe to use at the strip/pulls when launching in 4wd?

(asked this in another thread and havent got any replies)

I am under the impression that (on 2nd gen 24v ) the switch only works when the truck is in drive, "D" and the OD has to be on. I cant imagine this being good for truck pulls w/ overdrive.

The pins should be the same, as far as I know the only changes between years is the color of the wire you tap at the tranny.

As far as using the T.C. lock to launch, no you cannot use it for this purpose because if you lock it while you are sitting still it will kill the engine. It is like dropping the clutch in a standard while sitting still... A good time to lock the converter is at about 1500 rpm in second gear, it seems to be about the right power range in my truck. If you get good timing and you lock it at 1500 the truck just sits you back in the seat and pulls very hard al the way to 100 plus mph. Its awsome Be careful if you are running a stock tranny though, those locked shifts under high power are an input shafts worst nightmare!

On my 96, you actually remove the relay, and only use the jumper wire.....

Anybody know when this changed??

Yes you should be able to touch the wire to ground and have it lock up. Just so you know, the tranny will not allow lockup to engage in park or neutral, not even with the direct ground you have to be in gear. Check you ground and make sure you have a good solid ground.
