Painting plastic?
I'm having a buddy do some painting for me, he's experienced as a body guy, but not with painting some plastic components - I have window vent visors and want to paint them body color. Other than using an elastomer in the paint itself, is there any special prep for doing these pieces?

I usually sand it with 400 wet. Don't use any wax and grease remover on them. Clean them with soap and water or plastic prep. Than i use plastic adhesive permotor. (its clear and in a rattle can) Than i spray a coat of sealer than the bc/cc. I havent had any trouble yet never put that special stuff in the paint but never painted anything that had much flex to it. I asked they guys at the paint store about it and they said it dident help that much so i do not use it. Good Luck

I've used the Krylon Fusion on several parts on my truck. Requires very little prep and makes the parts look like new. I keep a can of gloss black (not very glossy) in the tool box. Black plastic above bumper, taillight trim, the black plastic thingy below the windshield wipers....they all look new. Of course, that really won't help if you are painting with custom colors.

I'm going to be painting them Patriot Blue, or else the Krylon Fusion stuff would work out great. My only concern is that there's enough elasticity in Mopar paint to do it - heck, the vent visors were only $40, and paint is $10 - if I royally screw it up, it's not the end of the world. I don't think I'll be paying the dude to do this....I'm thinking it should work fine.
