start up problem
ok guys i was talking to my buddies g/f tonight and she has an 05 ctd bone stock and she said that sometimes what she goes to start it, it just cranks and won't start and she has to shut the key off and then it will start just fine she was told by the dealer that its just a dodge thing they do that and then she was told by someone today that it is her injectors so any input would be great. i told if its her injectors then we (me and her b/f) are puttin bigger injectors in it lol

I'm not a gen 3 expert, but I have read hundreds if not thousands of threads just like this; and I stayed at Holiday Inn just last week. ![]() Most generally hard starting on a gen 3 is caused by not having enough rail pressure to tell the ECM it is OK to fire the injectors. There is a leak down test that can be performed to see if one of the injectors is leaking. There is also a fuel control actuator in the pump that plays a role in this I think. Might be diagnostic codes; and I would check for fuel in the oil. If you go to the Gen 3 Powertrain Forum, a search will yield a bucket load of threads
