Codes Help

A few weeks ago, I did the key check for codes and got a P2509 - ECM/PCM Power Input Signal Intermittent. I searched here and figured it was my batteries, and they tested low so I replaced them. I checked today to see if the code had cleared, and it is still there, and I now have that and a P0514 - Battery Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality. I researched that and it doesn't seem to be a big deal, but I can't figure out why I am getting these codes. If the P2509 was the batteries, wouldn't it have cleared itself? I drive it everyday, with a few starts per day, so it should have had enough key cycles, and now the new code. The truck runs great, voltage shows normal, no symptoms of any kind, just the codes. Anyone have any ideas?

Checked everything to see if perhaps there was a loose connection somewhere, but everything seems ok?

That code sets when the battery temp sensor doesn't change over time.

This is the sensor under the battery, should be a 2 pin connector on it. The sensor plug is under that plastic tray. Check for a good ground to it on the black/blue wire going to the sensor, and you should have around 5V on the pink/yellow wire with it unplugged, then something inbetween with the sensor plugged in.

Goodluck :thumbsup

Thankyou very much, I will check that out as soon as I get a chance. Shouldn't the P2509 have reset itself if it was the batteries that were replaced, or do I have to have it cleared?

not sure, I've never had that good of luck with the batteries and resetting it, plus I have access to a DRB scan tool so I cheat

I tried disconneting the batteries as well, but it didn't do anything. I think I will go to checker and have them clear the codes, and see if they come back. Interestingly enough, I called the dealer to see if I could get any info, and he stated it was probably a ground either to the battery or that sensor for the P0514, especially since I just changed the batteries, or I may have broken the sensor putting the battery in. The P2509 should have went away when I replaced the batteries, if that was the reason for the code. He said that it could be an ECM problem, and I said I will check everything else, due to the cost of a new ECM, and he said that it would be covered under the emissions warranty, as I have less than 80k on the truck, so if they come back after I check that sensor, and have them cleared, perhaps I will take it in.

a way to clear your codes, dissconect BOTH batteries (seems like common sense, but watched a guy only disconnect one), negative than positive cables of both, leave the cables off for 10 to 15 minutes. then take the CABLES and touch the positve and negative together, you will discharge the capsitor in the computer (like the ones in old distributors). reconnect batteries and see if the code is gone, you'll probable get a code for vehicle power but that will clear on its own
