Strokin to Cummin!

weird revving
i was kinda revvin my truck up in the driveway today (warmed up and was only hittin 2500 MAX) when the thing took off and wrapped up to 3300 rpm and stuck for a minute and came down VERY slowly. not quite sure what caused this, but the truck has been behaving normally since. on a related note, when accelerating at 2200 rpm, the trans seems to hunt between 3rd and 4th then slams into lockup. it will go from 3rd, shift to 4th, the rpms will go up 75-100 and then it hits lockup. is there something wrong with it, or is this normal?

the 3rd gens are bad for surgeing while in cruise mode. the drive by wire is the other problem (it doesnt react like your foot would...). mine has done similar things...

I believe the revving is due to building rail pressure, and then it doesnt drop off as soon as you let off. I could be wrong but its just a thought.

Yep, takes a second or two for the rail pressure to drop from high rpms. MikeyB

I think there is a TSB out for tranny hunting for this year. Engine rev sounds normal due to rail pressure.
