I couldn't recommend enough going to a Mag-Hytec rear cover. This will double your capacity. I r&r'd my rear fluid@9,000 and it was mud. Luckily nothing on the magnet. i went with Amsoil 75-90 Severe gear.:thumbsup

There is nothing electrical about it. You might have the electronic tranfer case (push button 4wd) as opposed to manual lever on the floor. Chrysler service manual says to use 75W-95 synthetic gear lube for all 11.5 rear ends. :thumbsup

Look up. I am going by what they told me and what the American Axle group book showed me when I was at the Dodge dealership. (Friend works there) I did say the 4x4 was electronic. Meaning electronic transfer case. LOL not DIFF. It says RIGHT in the book they are CONE style rear end. And it also says you can putin 75-140w if you tow. You can put the additive in. Itis going to do nothing for you but make a lil howl in the back. So the book says. Please read what I wrote a little closer. Thanks oh ya book says it has to be GL-5

Hey, I'm just telling you what the Chrysler Service manual says. And Trust me, the limited slip is not a cone style. It's a helical worm gear style. Like the Detroit Tru-Trac. I've installed several of them and can take a pic of one and show you if you want. I've got one sitting right here in my shop. I wasn't trying to be cocky about it.

This is a AAM 11.5" stock limited slip VS. stock open diff...........

Stock open diff............

Limited slip (notice the gear inside)........

I've built several of these rears, I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to help you understand what's actually going on inside your rear end. And don't always believe what a dealer tells you. They aren't always sure of what they are working on!:thumbsup

No biggie!!!! Just trying to help whenever I can. Good luck with everything. It's just really hard to type what you're saying without sounding like an . These LS diffs are really a very nice unit. They don't have anything really to wear out. Just keep the fluid changed regularily, and it should last a lifetime! It just sucks that the factory LS is the ONLY non-open diff made for these. And they are made by AAM themselves. There is absolutly NO aftermarket support for these axles when it comes to diff choices.

What about putting 75 140 in it? The dealer told me 75 90 but I do pull a lil trailer quit abit. it is a 7wide by 14foot cargo trailer. It is really not much of a pull for the truck. Can hardly tell it is hooked up most times.

You'd be fine with that.

You could use Amsoil 75/110 if you feel 75/90 is not heavy enough.

I am kinda worried thought cause of the fact I live in canada with Cold winters. This is an example of what has happened here. A guy I know well bought a Chev 2500 6.0l gas jobber. The truck was originally opted for California. When they got it in Saskatchewan canada where I live, the truck has no block heater etc so they put one in and away he went. He drove his kid to hockey in a naboring town, watched the game came back out, it was a very cold cold day, like -35celcius which is pretty norm up here. He got stuck in the rink parking lot, put it in 4x4 and he heard and bang bang, that was it. They towed it back to the dealership and the fluid in both diffs was lot thicker. So thick it pretty much shattered everything in the front one, took it right out actually. Warrenty though so no biggy. anyways after that long boring story. This is the worry I have with puttin in thicker fluid. I know this doesnt pretane to this thread. But is the fill capacity for a 5.9l dodge (oil) 12 liters?
