tranny swap.

i have been thinkin about it, and how much i hate having an auto trans. I know the easiest thing for a auto to manual swap would be finding someone with the exact truck as me with a manual and swapping parts from truck to truck. the hard part is finding someone. would i be better off looking for someone, or going to a junk yard searching for a wrecked one.
and can yall all put in some info on the things i'd need for the swap. I know the list is long, so if yall all can put in a little, it wont be so bad. i dont want to sell my truck and buy another because i love my truck and everything about it except for the tranny.

If you can find someone to trade with, that'd be the best bet but it has to be same year range (pcm). If you go the junk yard route, you'd be farther ahead buying a built auto.

i may have tested the waters.

dang it brian i thought that you liked to type.

well you are better off getting somebody to trade with. you will need

nv 5600, clutch, press plate, hyd, clutch pedal.,and the standard belhausing adapter, transfercase input gear, you don't need the crossmember, switch steering columns, abs modual and the ecu are vinlocked they will need to be swapped as well, 6 speeds have a 6"longer drive shaft in the front and 6" shorter in the rear, tranny cooler and lines need swapped, as well as the heat exchanger, cut a hole in the floor (it is pree stamped at the factory, and swap the counsel and cubby hole in the dash, early 03 have a 47re with a computer on the pass firewall to runn the tranny, 48 re's runn of the ecu. all of those harnesses and computers will have to be traded. there is a vacume box under the pass side wiper cowling that has to go with the auto matic. if both trucks have a bell crank you will have to change the rear engine harness, if one dose and the other dosent you will have to change the front and rear engine wireing harness and the bell crank. you also have to swap the big fuse box under the hood so that you will have a clutch switch so that the truck will start. and the throttle cable attaches to this thing under the drivers battery if you have a bell crank, if the other truck dose not then you will have to swap that as well. that should get you started or scare you away.
