vibration
I have an 06 3500 crew cab 4x4 long bed. When my girl friend got spooked by another car she went up and over the curb and popped two tires and bent two rims. I have replaced the tires and rims but have picked up a real bad vibration. It's most noticable at accelaration and @ 45 to 60 mph. I have bought an new carrier bearing from the dealer.Thinking this might be the problem. But I am stuck on how to remove the old one. Been searching the web. And I really don't want to spend 19.99 @ Chilton's for just this truck and down load the pics. I Would be very grateful if someone could give me the short version of how to R/R this bearing... Thankyou ![]()

My first guess would be to have the have the tires balanced again and check drive line and u-joints. Good luck.

Carrier bearing has to be pressed on and off the shaft. Almost any machine shop will do it (I paid $30 or so last time). Pull the shaft and mark it so when you split the 2 pieces you put them back the same too.

I wouldn't think the steady bearing is the problem. Look carefully over the drive train, especially the drive shaft for any type of damage, scrapes or dents. But it probably is another bad tire or rim. Get a good tire shop to carefully look at your rims when the put the on the balancer. ask them to check run out etc... good luck. |
