Question tranny just wont run rite, cant figure it out

i have an 07 with a 48re i have an ats vb tc and flexplate. when i am heavy on the throttle or am going up a long incline when i come to a stop and then try to take off again the truck doesnt wanna up shift out of 1st gear and im in O/D it just gets stuck in 1st. i have to stop and turn the truck off and wait about 5 min. start it back up and then it will shift again not to mention some times it will run like its in tow/haul down shifting etc. and i dont even hit the button and the tow/haul light aint even on. and it always hunts threw 1st and 2. ive changed the gp solenoid and the tv motor and it still does it i cant figure it out and neither can the dealer ive had it in 6 times now. can anybody help. any suggestions im willing to try anything at this point... could it be computer related???

get rid of the ATS VB, go with gearond or BD and the hunting between gears will be gone. My buddies truck did the same thing as you and it was the same year he replaced his ats stuff and he was good to go.

Might want to try the DTT Shift Enhanser first its a little less than $300 and will cure the hunting and hanging in 1st gear. Here is a recent thread on the Shift Enhanser DTT Shift Enhanser

But if your VB is too far out of whack it probably wont totally cure your problems. Also Im not fimiliar with the BullyDog stuff but try changing settings on it to see if any make it better or worse. With adjusting the torque management on the smarty it makes a huge difference in how the truck shifts. Maybe BullyDog has a similar feature???

thanks for the help. i did buy a dtt shift enhancer about 2 weeks ago but i didnt want to hook it up until i was sure my problem wasnt computer related. im trying to narrow it down little by little ive had my pmt unhooked for a week now and it is still acting up so its not the chip. just tonight it was real bad i was stuck in 1st for over 1 hour and then i realized that if i rev it up to about 3000 put it in neuteral and then back in o/d it will shift to the next gear same with 2nd 3rd and 4th but then when i stop i have to do it all over again or ill be stuck in 1st. like you guys said maybe its the ats vb i probably have to change it to find out but i dont really have the money to keep changing all these spendy parts. im taking it to a local trans shop tomorrow im hoping they can help... thanks for the advice any more thoughts let me know.

Wow that does suck! I would definitely get the VB looked at or replaced.

ive got it in the tranny shop right now and should know by tomorrow if its the ats vb or any sorta machanical failure. i talked to them today and they think it might be a command issue like my tcm or ecm but i should know tomorrow. they tell me in all the last 15 years or so they have seen maybe 1 defected vb from ats. they told me ats makes really good products so i wouldnt be to worried... ill let you know when i find out if i find out. i really hope these guys can figure it out.

well i got my truck back today and so far its running like a champ. they changed the gov. pressure solenoid and transducer somethimg the dealership should have changed under warranty but because this dealership sucks i had to pay 500.00 for parts and labor. this is a common problem with the 48re but some how the dealership couldn't figure it out the 5 times i had it in there some machanics huh... why even have a warranty if you gotta take your truck somewhere else and pay out of your own pocket just for a basic repair...

IIRC there is a TBS about the 1-2 shift problem ( covered under warranty) and the need to change out the parts you just payed to have done.
