i have a 2003 2500 and while driving now it makes a sort of humming noigse coming fromt he front end. i took the brake pads off and spun it and still hear it. sounds like it is coming from the fron dif. anyone have any ideas to what this could be? it is a constant noise but it gets louder around 35mph and keeps going until you stop.any help is appreciated. the dealer didnt help one bit

Hello! Is your truck a 2wd or 4wd? Also, does the noise decrease when you step on the brake pedal?

it is a 4x4. the noise doesnt go away until the truck is at a complete stop. i thought it would be the wheel bearing at first but it doesnt change when i turn or step on the brakes. it just keeps going until it comes to a stop. its is the loudest at abotu 35 and sort of gets quieter when slowing down. once i get above about 45 i cant really hear it to good anymore but the stacks sort of over power the noise haha

Besides the humming, is there any vibration? Also, what is the mileage on the truck? Sorry for all the questions, but starting at the basics and working up.

I have had this noise happen to me with my previous Dodges. If it's the same noise I am thinking about, you might want to start around your driveshaft area. Noise location when it comes to humming can be deceptive at times. Does this makes sense to you? Check your fluid in the differential first. If fluid is clean and not dirty, then proceed with driveshaft inspection. Keep me posted on the findings.

you *usually* cant hear a wheel bearing or driveshaft on the lift w/o having the truck running and sometimes without the chassis ear.
