so had my injectors tested by delco in Oklahoma city, they said all 6 had high return rates and 4 had higher than normal pop pressure which would indicate a blockage of some sort. any thoughts ? I don't know the numbers I forgot to ask. but judging by this should I replace them ? what kind of damage can be done putting them back in?

Get your injectors out of there.
In a different type of injector they open on pressure. Ours do not.
Ours are opened by a solenoid controlled electrically.

We can't fail a POP test which would be what most injection companies would call the other type of injector test.

If they told you that I'd doubt they tested them at all.

I guess if you know them maybe they mixed you up.

Del Co. Ok. City only has a Hartridge IFT 70 single injector test analyzer.
Capable of testing the Bosch HPCR injector, not capable of printout so only have the word of the tech running the test
Slow with only 1 injector at a time so some techs take "shortcuts" might we say

doesn't say their staff is capable, from the repeated conversation, doesn't sound like it.

what symptoms were you experiencing to cause you to send injectors in for testing?

do they correlate to the test findings?

""""white smoke on startup decreased fuel mileage decrease power which is pretty noticeable higher egts, my idle got real choppy """"

all symptoms point toward worn stuck open leaking injector nozzles needles/pintles.

how many miles/hours on the injectors? if over 100k, cut your loses and buy 6 new Bosch only, along with 6 new improved style upgrade low corrosion stronger tubes, the ones with the single alignment bar not the balls.

pull an oil sample and send in to an engine oil analysis lab such as Blackstone. request specific test for diesel contamination in engine oil.

DO NOT run the engine until problem is found and resolved.
Leaking injector nozzles kill Cummins HPCR 5.9s

may be matter of miscommunications understanding of terms with Del Co. on injector test results. what tekmega is reporting as "4 had higher than normal pop pressure" may be actually the person on phone stating higher than normal aka spec nozzle leakage rates.

again, NO POP testing of HPCR 5.9 injectors, they do NOT have a spring loaded pressure actuated release of diesel from the injector. Old school never to return mechanical injectors.

Strictly electric solenoid controlled pintle/needle release of diesel initiated by electrical current pulse originated by and controlled by the ECM brain.

I have 118k on my truck, they told me none of the nozzles were cracked or leaking, and the NOP test was high if that makes a difference.the report shows nop spec is 145-175, one was 170 the rest were higher and that's in bar, ill post the report when i get home
