Maybe Im just paranoid.

So the other day I was trying to get into the left lane coming home from work due to construction barriers and part of the road being out. This car came literally out of nowhere and would let me over so i sped up a bit due to there being cars behind trying to get over as well. Anyway I kept speeding up trying to make it over and due to i was almost out of track. I ended up having to 95mph before I could get in front of this and at that point i was turing around 2700 to 2800 rpms. The truck sounded like a Jet taking off and I dang near had my foot to the floor. Anyway since then it has sounded louder to me and maybe im just paranoid but it seems like something just sounds or seems a bit different. I seem like im getting worse mpg and it isn't as strong around 40mph at 1300 rpms. My truck is all stock with now 165,200 miles on it. It was getting kinda warm at that speed and rpm aswell cause I had probably 200 yards that I had to stay on it. I was probably at about 210 215 range temp wise using the stock engine temp gauge. Anyway let me know. Any input would be helpful. Thanks A lot.

the rpm's are normal for that speed along with temps. i would tighten the intercooler line clamps since they do get loose over time

So the last couple days I've now noticed that it feels like its lacking in power. It seems my mpg's have dropped and today when I put it in park from drive the idle climbed to 1000 to 1100 rpms and it seemed like it was getting hot then it started smelling really bad of burnt clutch. The trans was replaced three years ago by the previous onwers. Earlier I ran it down the road trying to see if there was any difference in sound and it sounds like there's a top end rattle 2700 rpm. It doesn't even seem to move until I hit at least 1600 rpm even just goin down the road normal when before it seemed like 1200 would just keep it cruising and holding speed.

Auto or stick? If auto, is the fluid brown or smell burnt? Should be bright pink. When you put it in drive does can you feel it? Will it move without throttle?

It does seem to be shifting extremely high. Like at sometimes around 3400 rpm which is on my truck in the redline. Just seems like the truck is working way way to hard for what its doing and just to get going. I was just curious if its possible to hurt the motor. Thanks.

You won't hurt the engine. Sounds like you have a bad torque converter or that tranny is just toast. Take it to a good transmission shop and im sure theyll look at it.
