Best exhaust for 06' 5.9

Fellow Enthusiasts,

Looking to pull the trigger on a new single pipe exhaust, what is the no kidding best choice for overall performance, ease of installation , durability and best sound (without driving you out of the cab from insane resignation)? Your expert opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lucky13SGT

I've looked at one exhaust system so far; MBRP 5", stainless steel, turbo back...looks like it has something on it that resembles a muffler. I have heard the MBRP is quite loud, I want loud and throaty, but not re-arrange your DNA loud (inside cab at least). Maybe to get what I want, I'll have to put up with resignation?

Sorry, can't help with aftermarket exhaust but I think the word your looking for is resonate inside the cab. Resignation means your quiting your position (or similar).

I straight piped mine, no cat/no muff and it is VERY loud if you put the pass windows down. I'm looking for a 5" stainless pipe with a muff and a resonator, not which brand I'm going with yet.

Not a full exhaust but I went with a 4" Aeroturbine 4040xl. It's not loud in the cab but sounds nice outside.

My cousin went with flo pro 5" turbo back and sounds amazing. Plus it was only $330 shipped to his door I'm running 4" down pipe to 5" just after the transfer case.

Get something 4 inch dont waste your money on anything bigger since i wont make that big of a difference. I just replaced the muffler with a cheap old glasspack and ran a pipe thru the cat and it wasnt loud at all. Oh a lot of that noise will go away to if you get the end of the tailpipe out a few inches from the truck bed.

I agree that it won't make a big difference in power. But the sound between a 4 inch 5 inch is way noticeable 5 inch is wayyy better sounding also the noise in the cab isn't bad at all and the price difference isn't that far from each other.

I really enjoy my exhaust, it's a stock downpipe with an MBRP Cat delete and MBRP muffler... so essentially a MBRP turbo back, 4 inch.

Sounds great, not loud enough to wake up the rest of the family when I leave for work at quarter to five in the morning, and not too expensive since I didn't replace all the piping.

Next will be an MBRP 5 inch turbo back. Be sure you run a muffler, IMO straight pipe is just too loud for daily driving.
