I was afraid it was a sneaky way to lock out the ECM, it was the rumor on the stree.. but after doing some more research I'll be taking mine down and getting it set and hopefully the high idle set too... I have been to that dealer enough with multiple trucks so I'm hoping they just do me the favor instead of having to pay for it...

It's a programming recall by the manufacturer to meet some kind of state law for compatibility - you should not have to pay for anything, and also not have to ask for a favor.

Ive had my previous cummins trucks reflashed before from the steeler... its allways free. Why is everyone afraid of the reflash? usually after I have mine done they run better.

When you take it down just ask to have the high idle enabled. They will hook the scanner to it and get it done. Like everyone else has said it is FREE. I will bet that they will try and find something to make money on you. Maybe they will come back and give you a quote for a cracked flywheel. LOL J/K I hope they dont.

If you have a 6spd you have to install/ground the 22pin(IIRC) on the ecm harness so it will work. 6.7 guys have it easier with a green wire by the parking brake in the cab.
Then some type of switch I assume? I guess I should search...

there are actually a lot of options you can have enabled and disabled on these trucks. for example you can have the headlights turn on when wipers are in use enabled, door locks automatically at a certain speed, a whole bunch of others one i forget it's late i'm tired.

I'll be interesting to see if anybody is able to reload their Smarty after this update. Marco's probably going to have to release another one. I like this 418b update I loaded.

Still haven't got my letter, if I do. High idle will be enabled. Another option that can be enabled on will be power on/key off.

Im not too sure i want to go in for this.... Buuuut, i remember reading somewhere on this forum that if you had a programmer installed on the truck and removed it the only way to erase any tracks it may have left on the ECM is to get a computer reflash from the dealer. I just uninstalled my Diablosport Predator because i was very unhappy with it and it also caused my rig to throw the CEL which hasnt returned since i unistalled it. So i am just wondering if this reflash will get rid of any footprints left behind
