Question, towing w 37s

Anything I need to do to tow 9-10k with my 07? Truck has 3in and 37 in procomp extreme at's. Edge juice w attitude, extreme power puck, exhaust, intake. Trans is stock and thats what im worried about (15k miles). In due time im going to change the converter and valve body but was just gathering input if the truck would be ok with this load the way it is. I would not run the edge any higher then 2 (40hp). The 37s on rockstars did zap the power noticibly. Thank you in advance

minimum put on an extra deep tranny cooling pan, will boost your ATF capacity by 3.
Derale Part# 14210

change all of the ATF 15 quarts, use only synthetic spec'd ATF+4

add a large Allison plate fin tranny cooler if it's in the budget.

add a tranny temp gauge and keep below 200d F for long life.

watch the pyro EGTs. 1200d F. max on hard pulls

use Tow/Haul

this might not be a necessity but if your truck was built with the 3.73 ring & pinions, maybe look at swapping them for something a little bigger if you continue to haul with 37's, that will help relieve some stress off the drive train as well.

I have a manual trans and a few hop up parts, but I have no problem towing those same loads with a 6" lift on 37's, but I am switching to those same tires you have shortly because these mud terrains make me unhappy towing a lot at highway speeds, they are just pretty loud...

But I agree when I switch the Banks back to stock the truck feels slugish, but it can still get you where your going. I would sugest a few of the normal base power mods (intake exhaust, chip, gauges, and etc.) to help you out, and you may want to address any tranny weeknesses...

Great info guys I apprec. I will prob only tow the 12v to a few races, a few hours away, a couple times a year. Other then that I just drive it to work etc. Truck runs good with the edge, exhaust, intake, intake manifold right now just was worried about the trans being ok with that rubber and load. Going to order a deeper pan pretty soon. Thanks again!

that is a really interesting tranny pan....looks like those pipes going through would really help cool things down . they should have me them facing from front to back of truck.

I tow more weight than that all the time. You should have no issues what so ever.

What I have found helped the most for the tranny was the lock up switch. When it gets to 2nd lock it, unlock then put it in 3rd(drive with t/h), then after you get to 60-70 you can put it in OD with that weight.. On longer hills you may want to put it back into 3rd. just watch the EGTs you will be fine.

Sounds good again I really apprec it. I sure didnt want to buy smaller tires and other rims just to tow a few times a year. Rather spend that money on a converter and valvebody.
