Dont know why the link is messed up, but it's in the 3rd gen tech forum. Perhaps you need someone to help you do it. Or pay the dealer to do it for u, shouldnt take more than 1 hour.

It is an event issue, the CP3 contains pistons and springs, as it is a rotary pump, the sound is backlash from the timing gears. You will be putting the injection pump into a preloaded relationship, in reference to the timing gears. This works and will make the tapping noise disappear!

No the timing only changes the amount of backlash in the drive gears, doesnt change the engine operation at all.

I understand that it doesn't change the timing of the pump. Why do you have to rotate it 30 degrees ? Why can't you just move it 10 ? I haven't had a chance to try this yet but how much play is there in the gears ? .015- .020" of an inch ? Is there any way just to turn the gear until the teeth of the gears are in constant contact to get rid of the play ? I asssuming that if you rotate more then 60 degree's you can't hurt anything. Thanks.

It doesnt have anything to do with the gear timing, its the timing of the CP3's piston stroke in relation to the engines piston stroke. No you cant just move the gears without completely tearing down the front of the engine, the only thing you can turn is the pump shaft once its loose from the cam drive gear. 10 degrees might be enough but I doubt it, you have to basically put the CP3 pistons in a different postion, in a 360 degree circle 10 degrees isnt much change.

I did and no luck for me. If I get on it pretty hard and then back off but still give it light throttle I get knock still. This has been going on for 100,000 miles so I don't think its hurting anything but it is annoying. I have replaced my pusher pump with a glacier 392 pump, added 20 micron and a 2 micron filter(plus my stock fuel filter), replaced FCA,replaced cascade valve(overflow),replaced my injector with F1's and have tried every additive under the sun. I still think the problem is a timing issue and it caused by my ECM or something between the CP3 pump or what ever controls the fuel that goes into each injector. Anybody have any suggestions ? Thanks.

My CP3 started making noise after I bumped the pressure up to about 40 psi at the inlet. It only makes noise when I'm below 1/8th tank of fuel. As soon as I fill up, the CP3 is quiet again.
