After several attempts at downloading an OBD2 reader none will read live data on this truck. I have an ELM bluetooth reader on the way and downloaded Torque pro. Any ideas on what would prevent a diagnostic tool from having access to the normal PIDs and live data? I read in one forum the all in one power center but that happened later than 2004.
My 05 doesn't seem to connect to certain scanners. Never bothered to look into it yet.
I've seen burnt cig lighter fuses cause the obd port to lose power, that was in a chev. Might be worth checking?
Pre-05 trucks don't put a lot of the PIDS on the data bus so a lot of the readers cannot see them. You have to go higher end like a Smarty or Edge to get the info.
How do smarty or edge read them then? Is it just a matter of getting the right address? I have Torque Pro on my 04.5 and it does read some stuff but not rail pressure and fuel flowrates seem way off. Good for IAT, coolant temp, throttle position, reading and clearing codes.
The PIDS are not standard so a lot of Apps cannot read them, they ar e not their in the format the typical OBD reader s looking for. The higher end tools have taken that into account.
