Transfer Case, Electric to Manual Conversion

Has anyone attempted (hopefully succeeded) in changing their electric shift transfer case to a manual shift transfer case?

I am assuming (hoping) that they are essentially the same transfer case, but one has some sort of electrical actuator installed in place of the manual linkage and that all the necessary parts could be purchased from Dodge and simply swapped out?

Looking forward to what you have to say on this topic!

I have meant to do this for some time but haven't got around to it. I have a wrecked 03 with a broken manual shift case, I just need to go look at the difference between it and my 08 electric shift case. I would think the swap should be simple because it wouldn't be cost effective for them to have two completely different setups.

I believe that the elect and manual stuff is a bolt on to the transfer case, might be plug n play, eh??

The only reason they didn't put the manual on the Megas probably h ad more to do with them then being stuck on how to do the cupholders and that stipid little cupholder tray. Well, and that they really want to put the electric stuff in everything they can.

Should be a direct swap.

hope you are right about the plug and play! Hate the idea of the electric as I had it on my Dakota and did not like it at all, and am now used to the manual on my 2500 Hemi. Once my Mega Dually shows up I will be eager to look into changing it out to manual. dont give a crap about no cup holder

hey guys, housings are similiar....but the issue is where the electronics bolt onto the housing..
manual has the protruding shaft for the linkage arm to bolt on to.
electronic assembly is bolted onto housing but the shaft has to be modified for the linkage arm.
im currently pulling my hair out with this same scenario

rebuilding 2 x 2005 quadcabs both with 4x4 manual shifts, both cases snapped in half from impacts....
of course i only have 06+ transfercases with electronic 4x4 selector switching

so refusing to shell out for 2 used transfercases
keep you posted

i also have a 271hd frm a manual 4x4 transfercase i want to install in my 06 megacab(electronic selector also) whn i install the DTT BILLET TRANNY and my redline diesel twins nxt month

so i have to figure it out both ways
cheers
