Compound turbos and exhaust brake
I have always wanted to run compound turbos on my truck, was looking at the BD Tow twins. I have the BD exhaust brake and wondered if i could run the twins and the exhaust brake. i was also thinking of keepin the factory turbo and pairing it with another turbo (dont know what yet) for better towing performance. My truck is used for heavy towing and is my daily driver. I also to roll some coal but need reliability

I know a guy that installed the BD tow twins. He had a PacBrake EB and had to get a different divorced EB from Pac. i now have his old one. You might want to check out the ATS twins as well. I know they have a nice tow twin set up and they also have a larger turbo to partner with the stocker and the kit to make it happen. My other buddy has the ATS twin set up and he installed his own, he also installed the BD twins on the other guys truck. He is member here called Cumminalong. You might want to talk with him about his opinions.....

Thanks for sending me the link Nick..... With the twins, you have to use a remote mount exhaust brake, you won't be able to mount that BD brake behind a bigger turbo because the BD compounds get mated to a different downpipe than the stocker. When we did the twins on the '06 MegaCab DRW, we used a Pac-Brake remote mount at at the end of the down pipe. If you do the twins, you will notice a slight lag in the exhaust brake engagement. Mainly because it has to wait on more air to be compressed to generate the back pressure due to it's location. |
