That's not a bad idea, K&N filters are generally thought of as the worst choice for air filters. Sorry to hear, let us know what you find out.

well i took off the intake tube today to see if the impeller wheel had some play in it and there and there was.... the fins are not broke on the intake side but not sure about the exhaust side and you can clearly see where the wheel has been grinding on the inside of the turbo... the fins are chewed up on the outside rim and the housing is scuffed up. I only had the truck running for a total of maybe 10 seconds after the smoke came out and heard the loud pop. would the K/N really void my engine warranty? I also have a magnaflow 5"tb exhaust... would that void it too? I could put the factory intake back on no issue but I cut up the factory exhaust in a few pieces to make the disassembly process go a little bit quicker

Im goin to say toasted turbo.. exactly same thing happened to me at work in our f550 ford.. heard kinda ping...grind...whoosh.. white smoke.. DONE! lol There is no reason for dodge to not give ya a new turbo, but they could pull some crap like "that K&N is not stock and may have allowed dust in bllaaa blaaaa blaaa" but thats kinda a long shot. The exhaust should never be a problem, if anything, new exhaust is better for the truck! While its in the shop if they are warrantying it, id get them to do a good once over on the motor cuz the turbo goin out, dependin on how far you drove with the white cloud, might have not been so good for internals! Sorry for your luck dude

the white smoke was probably raw fuel coming out the exhaust. if your turbo went, the motor was still pumping all that fuel into the cylinders with little or no air to burn it.

well i took it to a dodge dealership today and they said it would be covered under warranty but I would have to bring it to another dodge dealership as they are on the restricted list and cannot perform any warranty work and that I would have to put my silencer ring back on... so I put my silencer ring back on (needs to be complete to be warrantied) and towed it to another dodge dealership and we'll see what happens tomorrow... how long does it take to have a warranty processed... It's been a while since I've worked at a dealership and can't remember if its instant or I have a wait period... and do you think they would change the oil? it needs to be changed anyways... I'll keep ya posted, and thanks for all the help

get a sample of that oil that's in the engine and send it in yourself to an oil analysis lab for future engine warranty protection. that scrapped off eaten away aluminum had to go somewhere. then change the oil yourself before taking to second shop for warranty claim repair. they may try and claim owner failed to change oil per warranty requirements. edit: too late, see you've hauled it to second shop. fingers crossed. warranty processing, who knows with all the changes Chrysler has been through. i hear they are denying more claims now and making the customer fight for their rights. missing silencer ring as warranty denial reason, what's next, dirty lug nuts?

so I keep calling to see if the turbo is there but not yet, and do you think sisnce I have to wait this long they would give me a loaner car till its fixed?? O and the owners manual stated I could go 7500 b/t changes... I was going to do it as soon as I got home but as it sits now its got 6-6500 on it now so its within spec according to dodge anyway?
