engine knock

I have a knock that will not go away, ive tried everything i could think of. it is not timing rattle as i know what that sounds like. I have sent my injectors back to don and nothing was with them. i have taken all of my boxes and downloaders off and it still knocks. i have adjusted my valves and it still knocks. when idling there is no knock, it only knocks when im driving. i have tried a different relief valve and no luck, and also a new FCA and no luck. Its nothing with head gasket bc i sent an oil analysis in. where do i go next? thanks guys

I have heard exhaust leaks that sound like knocks, they usually get louder under power and seldom audible when idling.

Is this knock something that happens when you're in park and reving? Or is it only when you are driving? Does the knock stop at idle when your moving, as in coasting down the road in neutral at a decent speed?

When you rev, the motor will torque to once side, something might be touching, possibly a broken motor mount? Bumps could be making something that is loose tap against something.

Does the knock have a certain rythem? Does the rythem increase or decrease in respect with engine RPM?

Sounds like it requires a load and I am not familiar with what a CP3 knocking would sound like but I would guess it has something to do with it. Turbo's won't build up much pressure without a load either so you might want to focus in those area's. Check your drive train as well I guess. Parts of the truck will act differantly when you apply a load to it so check out everything you can think of that might change during a load. Try hooking a heavy trailer to it and pulling up hill slowly to check for the knock. Maybe even try some power breaking without letting the tires loose and see if you can hear the knock.

Judd,

Sorry I can't help with this one, but I use to live in Marble Falls. If I remember the dealer in Burner is not any good. I bet your in Co in the summer.

Just had a buddy with an 04 develop a tick. It turned out to be one of the injector line supports was not tight. They tightened it up and solved his problem.
Saw that you have pulled your injectors. Do you have to remove those clamps to do that?

Just another thought.

Randy
